Bubbles runs in your browser. You do not need an account, and the site has no ads or marketing trackers.

Usage and performance

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits and loading performance. Reports include pages visited, referring sites, approximate country, browser and device types, and loading times. Its analytics do not use cookies or fingerprint individual visitors.

Anonymous simulation performance reports

To improve how smoothly Bubbles runs and catch performance regressions, a random sample of visits sends one small performance summary to this site's own endpoint. Reports contain the software build, a fixed page category, coarse browser, operating system, screen, refresh-rate and GPU families, scene quality and bubble counts, timing statistics, and counts of errors and graphics context losses. They do not contain your full GPU name, page query strings, error messages, cookies, account details, or visitor, device or session identifiers. Each report stands alone; we do not use it to recognize you across visits.

A random sample of page loads (about one in four, and every load that has to download the simulator rather than reuse your browser's cache) also sends up to two short startup summaries, about 10 and 30 seconds after the bubbles appear. They contain your browser user agent, coarse device, screen and GPU families, screen pixel ratio and window size, startup and loading timings, shader compile timings, the slowest frames and frame rates, scene quality, bubble counts and whether the page was hidden, tagged with a random identifier that lasts for that one page load only. They follow the same choices as the performance summary: “Help tune Bubbles” off or Global Privacy Control stops them.

If Bubbles cannot start on your device, loses its graphics device, or the page is hidden or closed before the bubbles appear, the page load sends a short failure summary (two at most): the kind of failure (for example, no WebGPU or a startup timeout), the startup stages it reached, your browser user agent, coarse device and GPU families, screen pixel ratio and window size, tagged with a random identifier that lasts for that one page load only. It does not contain error messages. “Help tune Bubbles” off or Global Privacy Control stops it.

Only if you open a page whose address ends in ?bootReport=1, that page load also sends its startup and first-30-second timings, browser user agent, screen pixel ratio and size, and error messages, tagged with a random identifier that lasts for that one page load only; no other page sends this detailed timeline. It is sent only when you open such an address, regardless of browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control, unless you have turned off “Help tune Bubbles” on this device.

The “Measure my device” link runs a short simulation test (about 25 seconds, including warm-up), shows the results on your device, and sends a performance summary unless you have opted out. It does not require installing anything or running a local server.

Reports are stored in our Cloudflare account. Our endpoint does not store IP addresses in performance reports. Cloudflare still processes network information to deliver and protect the site, as described below.

You can stop performance reports by turning off “Help tune Bubbles” in settings. We also respect Global Privacy Control, except for the ?bootReport=1 report above, which you request yourself. Your choice is remembered only on your device and is not included in reports.

Browser storage

Browser local storage remembers your scene settings, metric or imperial units, sound preference, sensory view and optional pop counter, along with whether you have seen the help hint. These preferences stay on your device. Clearing this site's browser data removes them.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts and protects the site. It processes technical information, including IP addresses and traffic data, to provide those services. Read Cloudflare's privacy policy and its Web Analytics information for more detail.
